Waxen is a quarterly, cooperative effort seeking talented writers and illustrators to submit their best, strangest, and most horrific work.
Volumes of Waxen are bound and assembled by hand in batches of 100.
We like occult, weird, body, social, queer, surreal, and experimental horror.
We’d love to find writers and artists to feature in multiple issues – feel free to pitch serialized pieces.
We love diverse and unique voices.
All writers/artists retain full rights to their work.
Submission details:
Fiction – 5000 words maximum. Please avoid submitting stories with graphic depictions of sexual violence or violence towards children. Pdf and docx files welcome.
Artwork – illustrations/paintings welcome. Digital art will be considered but is not preferred. Submissions should be optimized for B&W printing and greater than or equal to 5.5 x 8.5 inches.
Multiple submissions are welcome, but please limit them to one email. (Also, consider that multiple fiction submissions will take much longer to review.)
Submissions may be accepted instead for future volumes of Waxen.
AI writing/art is not welcome.
