We’re thrilled to announce that Gavagai, a brand-new social platform for writers and readers, officially opens its doors on October 13, 2025.
Gavagai is a place where writers can share work, connect with community, and get their voices discovered. To celebrate our opening—and the spirit of spooky season—we’re launching our very first submission call for horror short fiction.
The Details
Selected stories will be featured in Editor Picks, a curated showcase of the strongest and most engaging writing on Gavagai. Stories will appear in the Editor Picks feed once payment has been distributed.
How to Submit
- Because we’re brand-new and keeping things manageable, submissions require a Gavagai account. Request an invite code to join.
- Invite code distribution begins on October 13.
- Once you’re in, navigate to the story editor, enter your title and paste the body of your story, choose an optional cover image (please make sure you own the rights to the image or use our free image library).
- Optionally mark the story private (this makes it so only you and the Gavagai editors can see the story, otherwise it will be public).
- Make sure the “submit for Editor Pick consideration” box is checked and publish!
- If you have any problems submitting, please let us know via the suggestion box in the header menu and we’ll get it fixed as quickly as possible.
Beyond Horror
While this first call is for horror, Editor Picks will be expanding to other genres. If you’d like to submit something outside of horror, feel free to do so—just mark it for consideration per the instructions above. We may not be able to review non-horror submissions until later in the year, but we want to see your best work.
